There’s nothing quite like coming home from a big summer adventure. Suitcases half-unpacked, the last of the suncream still floating around in bags, and a camera roll so full it’s hard to know where to start. That’s exactly where I’ve found myself – a little tired, very happy, and full of memories from two weeks that felt like a dream.
UK, Miami, Orlando. There was sunshine, family time, and a big slice of adventure. We started in Miami, then road-tripped across to Orlando – making memories at The Walt Disney Company and Universal Orlando Resort – soaking up every moment together.
The Holiday Edit
Four days in Miami just wasn’t enough. Beach walks, rooftop views, little adventures in Wynwood and Little Havana, lazy strolls and bike rides through Lummus Park and South Beach, evenings on Lincoln Road and the pinch-me moment of watching Messi play.
We packed so much into those four days, yet somehow it still felt like a proper pause. Sunshine, sea, a city that moves at its own pace – Miami, you were magic. My camera roll is full to bursting with palm trees, pastel skies and little snapshots of us soaking it all in.
From there, we swapped beaches for theme parks and settled into Orlando. And what a whirlwind it’s been. Disney days (with a detour to Top Golf, a few late nights out and some stomach-dropping coasters at Busch Gardens and Seaworld). And of course, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
We spent our days darting between rides, laughing our way through the queues, and holding on tight as the coasters threw us about. Hollywood Studios will always be our family favourite – it just feels most “us” – but Magic Kingdom still has that power to stop me in my tracks. That first walk down Main Street, the castle ahead and music playing. It gets me every single time.
And then came the part we’d been waiting for: Universal. This trip felt even more special because we got to experience Epic Universe – Universal’s brand-new park. Five incredible lands to explore, each more detailed than the last. Walking through the Isle of Berk from How to Train Your Dragon was like stepping straight into the film. And The Ministry of Magic was pure magic for Harry Potter fans like us.
The most special part, though, has been watching it all through George’s eyes again. The last time we came he was seven, just tall enough for the rides, wide-eyed and taking it all in. Now, at 14, he’s our ride buddy – dragging us straight back into the queue shouting, “let’s go again!”.
Theme park days are exhausting, yes, but they’re the kind you never forget. The big thrills, the little in-between moments, and the joy of sharing it all together.

The Holiday Edit
Now we’re home, there’s that familiar mix of feelings – the glow of all those memories still sitting with me, and the reality of getting back into some sort of routine. But that’s the beauty of holidays, isn’t it? They pull you right out of the everyday, give you space to breathe, and then send you home with stories you’ll keep retelling for years.
For now, I’m holding on to that holiday feeling for as long as I can.
