How to style a Slip Dress [Wardrobe Edit]

The 90’s slip dress

If there’s one trend I’m glad that has come back over the years – it’s the slip dress.

Such a versatile piece for your Autumn wardrobe. When I shared this photo on my Insta I had so many messages about how best to wear them so I thought I’d share 3 ways I’ll be wearing mine. I remember seeing one of my style icons Kate Moss wearing a slip dress when I was younger and always loved how she wore hers. Perhaps a little more rock chick than I do! I’m no Kate Moss but I do love 90’s fashion.

My biggest tip would be to size up. The one I’m wearing here is a size 14, I like mine slouchy. My usual size 10 is too fitted. I don’t find that fit for my body is very flattering at all. Like with most things in my wardrobe I much prefer the oversized look. Paired with something that frames my figure. I’ve said this before but clothes sizes don’t matter, just feel comfortable in what you wear.

A slip dress is such a versatile piece for your wardrobe. It’s an item in your wardrobe you can wear all year round. Just think layers and you’ll be just fine for this time of year. In previous years I’ve always worn a black slip dress, and then I saw this black and white version from New Look – I knew it would look lovely during Autumn and Winter.

1. Wear with a blazer for a night out or drinks in the day, this gives you a structured look

2. With a cosy knit and trainers – this is my favourite way of styling a slip dress

3. Layer up with a polo neck and boots for the daytime
