What I’m loving this week

Hello from Sunny Devon.

Actually I forgot to press publish so we are now back home.

What I’m loving this week? In brief, being together on our family holiday. We booked a week’s break to Devon back in May and spent the weeks following counting down the days since. Despite not knowing if the holiday would go ahead we said our prayers, crossed our fingers and toes and finally the date arrived on the calendar. This break feels extra special because it will be our only holiday of the year and we shared it with Bobby, our fur baby. Very paw-citing. You can see lots of photos and stories from our week over on Insta.

Hearing

All the sounds of the seaside. Simple pleasures but gosh do they take me back to my childhood. Seagulls up above, the sound of the ocean crashing against the sand, laughter from the children playing in the water. The boats bouncing around in the harbour.

Watching

My boys playing on the beach and in the sea. Woolacoombe beach, below the Porthole on Marine Drive was peaceful, spacious and the pawfect place for Bobby to dip his paws in. This was the day, a great day from our break. One that I know we’ll all remember for a very long time. Of all the photos I captured on our trip this first one is one of my favourites. I love the movement, the colours, the reflection in the water, the action and joy in their faces.

Eating

So much fudge, ice cream, cream teas, smoky bacon crisps, tasty chicken and pizza. That’s right the only thing we cooked was breakfast! Isn’t that what holidays are for? I’m going to share more about where we ate and drink in a separate post as we found some really fantastic dog friendly spots on our travels.

Wearing

It was lovely to wear shorts and sandals every day. There were no wardrobe issues just what colour tee to wear and which sandals. The best decisions. As well as packing layers – of course it’s the British Seaside! If I had been brave I would of worn a costume but I wasn’t quite ready for that. I did pack two but it just didn’t feel the same.

Playing

Card games. George’s job when we started to pack – was to get a bag together of all the bits he needed – which was mainly a bag of teddies. He also packed several card games which always makes me smile. Whether we’re on the beach, grabbing food or a drink – the card games always come out. Our favourite is UNO, what’s yours?

How was your week?
