Friday Favourites {Top 5 From The Week}

Oh hey there Friday, or should I say Saturday. I’m a little late posting my Friday Favourites this week. Missing a week has really thrown me.

Well actually it would appear that I unintentionally took a little blog hiatus. I say hiatus but actually I just didn’t post for maybe ten days which when I say it out loud it sounds like such a long time. And if truth be told I have missed writing, sharing and generally chatting with you all.

So why the hiatus? Life is just really busy right now, I’m working on a huge project which I mentioned a couple of posts back. In the coming days all will be revealed, oh my goodness it’s such a huge deal and I for one have my fingers AND toes crossed that this coming week goes smoothly. Its exciting and terrifying all at the same time.

So, let me tell you about the last few days in a few of my favourite things. Well five actually.

A half term adventure to Jenny’s…

I’ve managed to take three days break with George this week which has been so lovely. It’s the simple things that make us both smile and we’ve definitely enjoyed lots of those. We’ve been lucky with the weather and the company. On Monday we packed the car and drove to Jenny’s house for a sleepover and two days of fun. I love how even though the children don’t always see each other often they are the greatest of friends when we are together. It was lovely having a girly night with Jenny, chatting, looking at photos all whilst drinking fizz and eating chocolate.

Signs of spring…

At this time of year it really does feel like we’re in between the seasons. We have seen so much sunshine this week, we even turned off the heating and dared not to wear our winter coats more than once. Spring is in the air. The gardens are starting the fill with colour. Really makes me smile.

What I wore…

Bare ankles, princess skirts, slip dresses and not a winter coat in sight. Lighter outerwear makes me smile as does not having to worry about being all wrapped up or if our toes and fingers will be freezing. I don’t know about you but I am ready to be wearing my Birkenstocks although the temperature isn’t quite high enough for that.

A swimming award…

This little man of ours makes us so proud. He has been swimming since he was 4 months old. At first it was to develop his lungs, strength and stamina due to premature birth. 7 years later it is because he loves it so much. He definitely excels at it.

It’s a combination of his tutor, a competitive streak which I love as well as enjoying being active. He now has 2 more levels to achieve in this swimming school which apparently will really challenge him and take much longer to achieve. One thing is for certain this boy is up for it.

Painting pottery…

Each half term when we have some time together, just us painting pottery is high on the list. We love Emma Bridgewater decorating studio. A whole 90 minutes together doing what we love, being creative. I love our chats too. We usually paint a pot however this time we thought we’d paint a bowl. George loves cereal and pasta and suggested a bowl would be a lovely addition to his collection. I think he was right.

What a lovely half term week that has been. And today has been a lovely way to end the week with a family walk in the sunshine. Have a great week, already I’m looking forward to next weekend in a hot tub.

    So many lovely things! I’ve been loving all the Spring flowers popping up too. Glad you had fun at Jenny’s – it’s brilliant that all the children get on so well together. We’ve never visited the Emma Bridgewater Factory which is silly really seeing as it’s not all that far away from us. I think maybe we’ll have to add it to our summer holidays list.
