Wardrobe Edit – Summer dresses

Summer dresses…

Summer lovin’ had me a blast. Summer lovin’ happened so fast…

So how are we? And how lovely is this very special summer we are being treated to? I don’t think I have ever worn so many of my summer clothes before! And all before our actual summer holiday. Which if you didn’t know is in 11 days, well that’s if you’re reading this post on Sunday.

Anyway, back to why I’m writing this post. As a little hint, it’s all about women’s dresses, summer ones for that matter and my new found love for River Island. If you hadn’t already guessed. Yes my friend can you believe that before this year I was never really a fan of the store but lately I have been picking out favourites every few weeks. Something has changed. I think it helps that there is a new store opposite my office too which only opened at the end of last year. My love is real and strong right now. I’m wearing RI.

If there’s a style of dress that I naturally gravitate to in the summer months it has to be an off the shoulder number. Full of prettiness, floaty fabrics and pastel shades. I like feminine, bohemian and romantic dresses. I just love to feel girly but if you’re a regular reader you’ll know that already. For holiday this is my go to style. Bardot – mini, midi or maxi I’m in.

I had been admiring a dress the gorgeous Sarah & Phillipa were wearing over at We Are Twinset a few weeks back and so when the lovely team over at River Island asked to collaborate on their dresses it was first on my list. Do you love it as much as I do?

What’s not to love right? And with so many colour ways to choose from you really can’t go wrong. Who doesn’t love an off the shoulder dress? Well, I do for sure and with 50% of my summer outfits falling into this category I couldn’t resist adding more. They’re so easy to wear. Perfectly bohemian, some might say Grecian. I’m in love, is that even possible with a dress? And what I love is that they come in different colours. Some more formal than others. I chose a pale pink and cream as I felt I would be able to style them for both day and evening with ease. A bit more casual than some of the other colours. I simply cannot wait to swoosh around the streets of Espana in them.

This second dress, although a little more formal in its structure is so beautiful. So elegant yet perfect for a summers day. Again I had been looking at similar in preparation for our summer holiday but actually I just loved the cut on this one and the pockets! And it’s lined which is a must as no one needs to see my underwear. It’s all about the pockets right? The brown buttons just add a little something to break up the colour and paired with a straw bag, gladiator sandals and a boater style hat, I think this will be one of my favourite looks this holiday. And definitely one for the marina in Alicante when we visit. I just need a yacht and I’m all set.

Do you have a favourite style of dress for the summer? And if you’re looking for more inspiration I’ve added some of my favourites to my Style Loves page.

This post was written in collaboration with River Island.
