This summer we swapped grey skies for palm trees, beaches, and rollercoasters with a 19-day trip to Miami and Orlando. It was the perfect mix: a few days of sunshine and city life before diving headfirst into theme park and animal magic.
I’ve split the trip into a little series so I can share more of the detail – the highlights, the little things in between, and a few tips for travelling with a teen.
Miami & Orlando: Our Family Summer Adventure
Part 1: Miami in Four Days
— beach walks, colourful districts, Cuban coffee, street art, and a very special football match.
A city that gave us sunshine, sea, and a taste of something new every single day.

Part 2: Orlando Magic
— Disney days, Universal’s brand-new Epic Universe, and all the thrills in between.
Theme park mornings, lake-view evenings, and the kind of magic that never gets old.

Part 3: Our Favourite Rides in Orlando
— VelociCoaster, Guardians, Tron, Hagrid’s, Slinky and more — plus which ones made our family’s top list.
From scream-inducing drops to pure laugh-out-loud fun, these were the rides we’ll never forget.

Part 4: The Little Things We’ll Remember
— sea views, lake views, shopping sprees, evenings spent playing cards, Top Golf and the quieter moments that made it all ours.
Because sometimes it’s the small, in-between moments that end up meaning the most.
