Travel Diary: Moments in Between

When I think back on our 19 days in Miami and Orlando, it’s not just the big moments – the rollercoasters, the castle, that moment I captured with Chewbacca and the snacks Mickey shaped snacks that stay with me. It’s the little things in between, the bits that don’t make it onto the travel guides but somehow mean the most.

Travel Diary: Moments in Between

Miami Mornings & Evenings

Waking up in a hotel room with a sea view, pulling back the curtains to see the sun shimmering across the water. Morning beach walks before the heat of the day, and evenings watching the sun sink into the horizon – those bookends to our days made Miami feel magical. Miami is a unique blend of rich Cuban heritage, world-famous Art Deco architecture and an incredible creative arts scene. Miami was magic!

Orlando Views

In Orlando, it was all about our lake view. Sitting outside in the mornings with a coffee and evenings, cards spread across the table, laughter carrying into the warm night air. Sometimes the best evenings weren’t out in the parks at all, but right there at our Villa.

Sunrise & Sunset

Sunrises in Miami, sunsets in Orlando. Both equally beautiful, both equally grounding. There’s something about watching the sky change colour that makes you slow down – even in the middle of a busy holiday. Our last morning in Miami, walking along the beach as the sun made its entrance to the day was magical.

Shopping & Strolling

Travel with a teen means factoring in shopping sprees and George was in his element. Whether it was trainers, jumpers, or souvenirs, those little detours became a fun part of the holiday rhythm. Disney Springs was another favourite: afternoons wandering, eating, browsing, and soaking up the atmosphere away from the parks. And lets not forget ICON Park, a great spot for grabbing a happy hour drink and some food after busy days in the parks.

Play Time

We couldn’t resist a few rounds at Top Golf, something a little different that brought out our competitive streaks. Those couple of hours, laughing, cheering each other on, might not sound like much, but they’re the memories I’ll hold onto.

Slower Moments

Theme park holidays are full-on, but some of the best memories came when we pressed pause. The giggles in queues playing heads-up, the lazy pool mornings, the evenings with a deck of cards instead of a rollercoaster. The in-between moments that stitched the big ones together.

Travel Diary: Moments in Between

Looking back, Miami gave us sun, sea, and colour; Orlando gave us thrills and that familiar dose of magic. But together, what I’ll really remember are these little moments – the ones that made it feel like our holiday.
