MADE and Me [Trying new things]

AD – My membership at MADE is on a gifted basis. I have not been paid for writing this post however as part of the collaboration I have been asked to share my honest opinions

MADE and Me [Trying new things]

New experiences, stepping out of your comfort zone and finding joy in trying new things. Not being afraid to walk in a room and train alone. It can be nerve wracking. I know I have felt anxious, and certainly did when I first started to train at MADE but that very quickly went as the environment is so welcoming. The trainers are attentive and those that train at MADE are so warm and friendly.

For me that’s how I am feeling after the past few week’s training with the team. I feel like I’ve now joined what the team call the MADE movement. And let’s not forget the feeling after you have tried something new, don’t you just love that sense of achievement? Which I think is so important for staying motivated to train.

And so, in a follow up to my last post here are a few things I have been trying at MADE…

Kettlebell classes and Gym HIIT

The variety of fitness classes available at MADE was and still is a huge pull for me. There aren’t many centre’s where there is as much variation. Another example of the level of thought that has gone into the development of MADE by it’s Founder Penny. Even after 5 week’s I’m still finding new classes to try. I love that.

Classes fall under two categories at MADE; OM and Sweat Classes. OM classes include Yoga, Pilates and Meditation. Sweat Classes include Indoor Cycle, HIIT, Dance and much more.

Two classes which have surprised me in terms of how much I have enjoyed them are Kettlebell and Gym HIIT. Five week’s ago I would never have booked onto a Kettlebell class – why? It’s one I haven’t done before. Mark is a brilliant instructor, it’s clear how much knowledge he has as I find his classes educational too.

And there there is Oli’s Gym HIIT – a session focused in the Gym area. The Gym is just the right size, it isn’t intimidating, big enough that it has all the right equipment. Which is perfect for if you are a little bit self conscious. I really enjoy Oli’s 30 minute HIIT session on a Saturday morning – it’s a group class for up to 6 people and dare I say really fun yet challenging!

Lunch at MADE Cafe & Smoothies

Breakfast was delicious so I thought I’d try lunch. And just like breakfast it was a taste sensation. The smoothies are so refreshing, perfect for after a sweaty Gym class. The Wellness Café avoids refined sugars and makes healthy eating fun and inspiring. I talked about the Cafe in my last post so I’m trying not to say the same again. The Cafe has so much to offer. The range of food and drink available is extensive, healthy, fun and so so good. Good to eat, but great to look at.

You can visit the Café as a non member. But of course you can also become a member and enjoy many many more benefits. If nothing else you should visit the Café – you’ll get a sense of what it is the Centre as a whole has to offer.

Facilities

For me this is where MADE stands out. From booking classes on the App, to scanning in on entry to register for your class, having a safe space to put away your belongings to the shower room. I actually look forward to a morning class as the toiletries at MADE are such a treat. Simple touches but ones that make a difference. And unlike many gyms there is no charge for using a locker.

In each post I write I plan to add in a Top Tip. One that will help you to enjoy your time at MADE or even a tip that I’ve picked up along the way from my own training. And so this week’s top tip is…

Never miss a Monday. The last two weeks I missed my usual training on a Monday evening. It was the wrong decision and set me on a downward spiral for my training all week. Never miss a Monday!

If you are interested in trying out the facilities at MADE then check out this offer. A MADE 2 week trial – perfect for anyone wanting to experience the centre before committing to a membership. The 2 week trial includes: – Unlimited yoga classes – Unlimited fitness classes – Unlimited use of the boutique gym Price: £35 for 14 days trial.

I find gyms SO intimidating. I think you’re really brave (and dedicated!) to be going so often. It sounds like there are loads of classes to choose from – what a good idea to split them into high energy versus calming ones. It looks like such a clean and calm and inviting space too.

Oh you do? I think it’s about finding the one that suits you and your personality, MADE definitely isn’t intimidating.
