Me and Mine Project – June

Of all the month’s in the year to close the door on I am a little sad to be saying goodbye to June. Apart from the last few days of rain we have enjoyed a sun filled month together. It’s a big month for the Hargreaves family, what with our gorgeous boy turning six years old and deciding to extend our summer holiday in Spain from one week to two. There’s been so much excitement and so much to look forward to. Six already seems so big, like every week and month at the moment he just seems to be growing up in a flash – the school year has a lot to answer for, I am certain the year whizzes by much faster than when he wasn’t a school boy. He went off to school on Monday as a fresh six year old and came home a 16 year old, he just seemed to grow up that much more, this boy needs to stop growing up.

And so in celebration of our gorgeous boy our month has mainly been centred around him, awash with days out, quality time spent together and two weekends of birthday celebrations which were perfect in every way.

Our month of June had us exploring Alton Towers as we finally took the plunge and purchased Merlin Annual passes. We have eaten out at some gorgeous restaurants near and far – enjoying the evening sunshine, lazy sunny days at Trentham Gardens, football and cricket on the field in the evenings after work and school, meeting up with George’s school friends at the local cricket club where the children played and the adults swapped lego cards (we’re so rock and roll), visiting Legoland to kick off the birthday celebrations and resting tired feet with wine and the most gorgeous of sunsets in Windsor. The month ended with a weekend of celebrations for our gorgeous boy, a tubing birthday party with 15 of his friends, an afternoon of present opening and building copious amounts of lego brick heads and a family meal after school on his actual birthday. And relax.

This month’s photos were taken right at the beginning of June when we visited Alton Towers, I had hoped to have a family photo on George’s birthday but things just didn’t work that way which in some ways is just fine, we were having so much fun that it would have been a shame to have broken up the day. It was his day after all. I loved the building we found at Alton Towers, this spot was in the Castle as you come off Hex. I used to love exploring the Castle when I was younger, such a shame that it is blocked off now.

And so here are a few things we have been loving in June…

Mr H has been loving… exploring Copenhagen for his friends Stag doo, exploring Windsor, riding the log flume at LEGOLAND, eating a special fathers day breakfast and watching the boy improve each week at his football class.

George has been loving… visiting LEGOLAND for his pre birthday celebrations, dragging mummy onto the log flume and getting soaked from head to toe, wearing a crown at his birthday party, playing with his new lego toys and lastly his superhero cupcakes and rainbow birthday cake.

And lastly I have been loving… surprising George on his birthday at his classroom door with balloons, his little face was a picture. The photo walk as part of the Blogtacular conference, hitting the Zara and Topshop sales in preparation for our summer holiday and exploring the cobbled streets of Windsor as part of our trip to LEGOLAND.

I couldn’t let this month’s post pass without sharing a few photo’s from the birthday celebrations…
