Easter half term, as the world opened back up

What a lovely half term that was. I managed to take a few days break with George and thankfully the weather showed up and treated us to dry, bright and sunshine filled days. It was just what we needed. What I needed. I rarely take a break from work and if truth be told I didn’t break for the whole week, I did something most days but it was a nice break from routine and staying indoors.

Despite the week coinciding with the world opening back up again we quite simply enjoyed staying relatively local, taking long walks, spending days at home in the garden and some much needed down time with slow starts being the order of the day. There’s something to be said for not putting too much pressure on yourself to rush out back to ‘normal’ – we’re certainly not ready to do that. How are you feeling about it?

It really is the little things that make me smile. And thankfully we all feel the same. Half term proved that. It’s been a little while since I have written a post like this so here goes…

Sunshine in the garden

Having the opportunity to sit out, eat breakfast and lunch together in the garden really has been super. To think that we’ve only had this space for a year now still amazes me. To think we left it so long to create an outdoor space we could all enjoy and more so with have a safe space to host friends and family. Transforming our garden truly is a blessing of the pandemic. A project we all needed for those first few months of lockdown.

Days out with George

We really enjoyed heading out to Trentham Gardens for their Easter trail and to play Disc Golf – such a great day out. Think crazy golf but with discs! We also enjoyed tubing, it’s been more than two years since our last visit, maybe more. It was such good fun, I love hearing the laughter although I think next time we need to move onto the Adrenaline run. On a full ski slope.

Wearing my summer wardrobe

How lovely has it been to dip into the summer wardrobe? I’ve worn dresses, vest tops, blazers and sandals these last few weeks. I’ve also worn a jumper when the weather surprised me, of course. It has been a joy to pick from my summer rail. I’m ready to have the switch over. I’m going to go in this weekend.

Football Season

It has been a joy to see George back to football training and playing matches. So far, his team are winning and he is seeing his teammates, he is happy which is all he wanted. A reunion. And finally he is tired in the evening, it’s been a good few months when he would flake out in the evenings. Happy days. Happy boy. Happy parents.

Our first hike with Bobby

Last weekend we took a walk up and around The Cloud – it felt so good to go on an adventure. We all miss them. We’ve had this walk on our list for a while but as it’s a little drive away we needed to wait for restrictions to be lifted and for Bob to get a little bigger. Perfect for families and dog walkers. Incredible vistas and as it was only 2.5 miles in total it was easy to slot in around George’s football schedule. Perfect Sunday activity.
